2 Men Convicted In 2009 Brockton Slaying
Two Brockton men have been convicted of a fatal shooting in the city more than four years ago.
Twenty-two-year-old Esau Depina and 23-year-old Isaiah Monteiro were sentenced to life in prison without parole on Thursday after being convicted of charges including first-degree murder in the November 2009 shooting of Anthony Hamilton, who was sitting outside a city home with friends.
Prosecutors say the defendants drove to the area and saw the 21-year-old Hamilton outside with four others. Monteiro circled around the block, where Depina exited the vehicle. Depina fired 15 shots from a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol. Hamilton was shot in the back of the head and in the back of the arm and died instantly.
