Scott Brown Renews Contract With Fox News

BOSTON — Former Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Scott Brown has renewed his contract with Fox News, an executive at the television channel said in a statement.

“Sen. Brown has renewed his contributor agreement with Fox News. The previous yearlong agreement expired on Feb. 11 and was never terminated — this was purely administrative,” Bill Shine, Fox News’ executive vice president of programming, said in the statement.

Shine’s statement follows a Boston Globe article reporting that Brown was no longer under contract with the channel. An unnamed Fox News spokeswoman told the Globe Tuesday night that Brown “is currently out of contract with the network.”

The Globe reported that the spokeswoman’s comments were “sure to fan flames of speculation about his potential US Senate bid in New Hampshire,” since Fox News would end his on-air contract if he formed an exploratory committee for a Senate bid.

The Republican is weighing a potential challenge to Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.

The ex-Massachusetts senator has moved into his New Hampshire vacation home.

Fox News hired Brown as an on-air contributor a year ago.
