Bedford Man Indicted Over Nov. 25 Killing

Prosecutors say a Bristol County Grand Jury has indicted a New Bedford man on murder and other charges stemming from the killing of another man.

Prosecutors said Friday that Hailton DaCosta was also indicted on charges of armed assault with intent to rob and illegal possession of a firearm.

The 25-year-old DaCosta is being held without bail after he was arraigned on charges stemming from the death of 31-year-old Sharone Stafford.

Two other city men, 21-year-old Elio Mendes and 27-year-old Samir Baptista, are awaiting trial on charges stemming from the Nov. 25 killing.

Police responding to reported gunshots found Stafford lying on Winsor Street near the intersection of Crapo Street. He died at St. Luke's Hospital.

Baptista is held without bail, Menses on $150,000 bail.

It was not immediately clear if DaCosta has an attorney.
