6th District Congressional Challengers Raising Campaign Cash

Two challengers hoping to unseat incumbent Democratic Rep. John Tierney have been raising hefty sums of money during the first three months of the year.

Republican Richard Tisei, a former state senator who narrowly lost to Tierney in 2012, reported raising about $301,000 in the first quarter of the year. He ended March with more than $569,000 in his account.

Seth Moulton is challenging Tierney, a fellow Salem Democrat, in the party's September primary. Moulton reported raising more than $454,000 in first three months of 2014, ending March with about $651,000 in his campaign account.

Moulton outpaced Tierney, who reported collecting about $347,000 in the first quarter. Tierney still ended up with the most cash in his account as of the end of the March - nearly $977,000.

Democrat Marisa DeFranco is also challenging Tierney.
