Program Looks At Gay Marriage Ruling Decade Later

The Boston Center for Adult Education will host a discussion program with some of the same-sex couples whose lawsuit led to Massachusetts becoming the first state in the country to legalize gay marriage a decade ago.

The lecture and panel discussion Tuesday will look back at the landmark ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in November 2003 and the first weddings on May 17, 2004.

Some of the couples who were plaintiffs in the lawsuit will participate in the program, including Rob Compton, David Wilson, Hillary Goodridge and Julie Goodridge.

Retired SJC Justice John Greaney will also participate. The program will be moderated by Jared Bowen, executive editor and host of the WGBH television series "Open Studio."
