BOSTON Reports of a plane ablaze at Boston’s Logan International Airport turned out to be nothing but a training exercise for firefighters.
An airport spokesman said the exercise Wednesday morning that created a stir on social media was held in the same place as all fire training exercises, which are “almost a daily occurrence” between April and October.
Matthew Brelis says the airport trains firefighters from airports across the northeast using a fake aircraft fuselage.
Andrew Zimmern of Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods America” tweeted “Am I alone seeing a plane on fire on Tarmac at Logan in Boston?” and later “Scary at Logan. Plane engulfed in flames (at) Delta Terminal – Logan International Airport.”
