Scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $2,500, for a total of $12,000, were awarded this week to Catherine Lamoly, Samantha Walters, Mary Leahy, Andrea Lang, Lily Cuzner and Sarah Mountain.

The scholarship fund is supported by donations made in the wake of Ritzer's death last October as well as a road race and other tribute events.

Students from Danvers, where she taught, and Andover, her home town, who plan to pursue a career in teaching, are eligible. The Andover recipients will be announced Monday.

One of Ritzer's former students is charged with her slaying.
