Trial Set For Brothers In Boston Marathon Scam

Trial is set to begin for two brothers charged with making a fake $2 million claim to the Boston marathon victims' fund using the name of an aunt who has been dead for a decade.

Twenty-three-year-old Branden Mattier and 28-year-old Domunique Grice have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy commit larceny, attempt to commit larceny and identity fraud.

Prosecutors say the brothers submitted a false claim to The One Fund for their long-dead aunt, saying that she lost both legs in the April 15, 2013, attack.

Mattier was arrested July 2 when he accepted a fake check from a state trooper. Prosecutors say the brothers planned to test-drive a new Mercedes-Benz when the check arrived.

The brothers are out on bail. Their trial is set to begin Monday morning at the Suffolk Superior Court.
