RANDOLPH, Mass. — Authorities say 18 people were hurt in a collision between an MBTA bus and a car in Randolph, but none of the injuries appear serious.

Randolph emergency personnel and an MBTA spokesman say some riders on the bus complained of neck and back pain following the accident at about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday. Some were taken to area hospitals.

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority spokesman Joe Pesaturo says the car turned into the path of the bus, and the car’s driver reported feeling dizzy just before impact.

The car’s driver was charged with operating under the influence of drugs following questioning by transit police.

The crash in Randolph came just minutes after an MBTA bus struck a pedestrian in Roxbury. The pedestrian was also taken to a hospital.
