Candidates For Governor Hit Campaign Trail

The Republican and Democratic candidates for governor are hitting the campaign trail.

Democrat Martha Coakley and running mate Steve Kerrigan will join Democratic Congressman Joe Kennedy to greet diners at a luncheonette and ice cream parlor in Newton on Saturday. They will then attend a Democratic unity event in Springfield before stopping by a Puerto Rican bakery.

The candidates will also receive the endorsement of Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren at Coakley's Somerville campaign headquarters.

Republican Charlie Baker is spending a portion of Saturday visiting the Big E Festival in West Springfield with Springfield City Councilor Tim Rooke. His running mate Karyn Polito will be stumping for votes in Wellesley, South Boston, Norwood and Quincy.

Also Saturday, Warren plans to campaign with Democratic nominee for attorney general Maura Healey in Lawrence.
