Blackstone Residents Gather To Remember Babies

About 200 people gathered and three heart-shaped balloons were released during a vigil to remember the three babies whose remains were found in a Blackstone home last week.

Jillian St. Laurent, one of the organizers, said the vigil was not just for the three babies found dead in the squalid home, but also for the four other children removed from the home by state child services late last month.

The Rev. Ruth Blais, pastor of a local church, asked those attending not just to pray for the children, but also to pray for Erika Murray, the 31-year-old woman who lived in the home and who is facing charges including fetal death concealment.

Murray's lawyer says the babies were stillborn.

The deaths have shaken the town of about 9,000 residents.
