2 Park Rangers Stabbed On Boston Common

Two park rangers were stabbed on Boston Common Tuesday afternoon and one is in critical condition.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said during a press conference that the ranger in critical condition was in surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. The other ranger was sent to Tufts Medical Center and was in stable condition.

A suspect, Bodio Hutchinson, 34, of Boston, is in custody. Commissioner Evans said Hutchinson had an outstanding warrant for assault and battery on a police officer and drug charges.

A knife that Evans said Hutchinson discarded into the Frog Pond as he was leaving the scene was recovered.

Evans said there were many witnesses and the public was "more than cooperative."

"They were filming with their phones," Evans said. "I think we got a good case."
