Police: Massachusetts Child Rape Suspect Vowed To Kill 13-Year-Old Victim

Authorities say a child rape suspect who went on a violent cross-country crime spree told people his "ultimate goal" was to return to Massachusetts to kill the 13-year-old rape victim.

Gregory Lewis, of Southbridge, was captured in New York on Tuesday night after more than a month on the run. Lewis was arraigned Wednesday on a fugitive charge. It wasn't immediately clear when he will be returned to Massachusetts.

Massachusetts State Police say Lewis was released on $1,000 bail after his arraignment Aug. 6 on charges including statutory rape of a child. He fled Sept. 15.

He is suspected of committing a string of rapes, kidnappings and robberies of female escorts in North Carolina, Colorado and Oregon and an armed robbery of an escort in Indianapolis.

Lewis is in custody and couldn't be reached for comment.
