Boston Schools Closing Monday Ahead Of Snowstorm

Boston schools will be closed on Monday for a snowstorm expected to bring around a foot of new snow.

Mayor Martin Walsh also announced Sunday that snow emergency will take effect at 6 a.m. Monday.

Schools were closed three days last week after a blizzard dumped around 2 feet of snow.

Boston Centers for Youth and Families will be open Monday for those needing a place to go, and parents who complete a form may drop off children 7 and older.

The city will have more than 600 pieces of equipment ready for snow removal and more than 20,000 tons of salt. Trash collection will be early, at 5 a.m.

Cars parked on major roads will be towed after 8 a.m. Drivers are asked not to park near intersections, sidewalk ramps, crosswalks and fire hydrants.
