Forecast: Saturday Night Snow Turns To Rain Sunday

Sunshine starts off Saturday, but will be followed by clouds and eventually a period of snow. The snow won't start until late afternoon or early evening. If you have plans this evening, the snow will be moderate to perhaps even heavy for a few hours during the evening. This means roads will become snow covered and slippery. Winds will be light and, unless you don't like driving in any snow, you could still keep evening plans, just allow for the slower travel.

As warmer air moves northward overnight, snow will mix with freezing rain and rain. Along the south coast and Cape Cod, the rain could be heavy at times adding to the weight of the snow already on the ground and on top of buildings, especially those with flat roofs.

When you awake Sunday morning it will be either raining or perhaps some freezing rain along the coast and back through the Route 128 belt.  Beyond that are there could still be some snow or mixed snow and freezing rain, but it will be ending.

You will want to remove the snow and slush during Sunday as cold arctic air returns Sunday night and Monday and this means everything will freeze rock solid.

Next week looks to be cold and mostly dry with the threat of some snow Tuesday night or Wednesday, presently this doesn't appear to be a major system.

Saturday: Morning sunshine, afternoon clouds. Snow developing after 4 p.m. Highs in the mid to upper 20s.

Saturday Night: Snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain by morning. Temperatures rising overnight.

Sunday: Freezing rain, snow and rain ending, some late day clearing. Highs 33-40.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 20.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 20.

Wednesday: Cloudy, snow showers or light snow. Highs 26-32.
