Jurors in the trial of accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev won't even have to consider whether there's reasonable doubt Tsarnaev committed the crime.

On Wednesday, in opening statements of the long-awaited trial, Tsarnaev's attorneys admitted he planted a bomb at the Boston Marathon finish line.

WBUR's Jack Lepiarz is covering the trial and joined All Things Considered to discuss the first day of testimony. Listen to his report above.

This segment aired on March 4, 2015.
