Forecast: Mostly Sunny Weekend, Though A Few Snow Showers Possible Saturday

A bright, but cold morning continues into a chilly afternoon. Winds will be light and with the stronger March sunshine, it won’t feel particularly bitter. There will be some melting of the snow on the sides of the road, but little, if any, of the snowpack will melt.

This afternoon the sun sets just after 5:30 p.m., when many of you will be heading home after a long work-week. Solar glare is a problem on days like today with clear skies. The worst places for solar glare are parts of Route 128 and the Massachusetts Turnpike.

With clear skies overnight it will again be cold, but not as cold as this morning. A light southwest wind will help prevent temperatures from going down to sub-zero levels. Last week, I wrote that we are likely finished with sub-zero mornings, and I continue to believe this to be true.

The weekend is looking rather nice with sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. There is a weak weather system moving through Saturday night, and this could bring a few snow showers. On Sunday morning, you could see some clouds to start the day, but skies should at least partially clear, leaving partly to mostly sunny skies.

Temperatures over the weekend will be still below seasonable averages, but above 32 degrees to give us at least some melting of the snow.

We should see a continued dry pattern into next week, and some areas will reach the lower 40s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Colder air follows to end the upcoming work-week.

Don’t forget daylight saving time begins this weekend. Set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed Saturday night.
