Forecast: With Highs In 40s, Milder Weather Ahead

This is likely the most tranquil and mild work week we have seen in quite some time. Although there is some morning cloudiness, skies will eventually become mostly sunny and temperatures will rise into the mid-40s. This will help promote more melting of the deep snowpack.

It’s going to be breezy this afternoon and this will make it feel colder, but not too bad. After the sun sets later this evening temperatures will fall back into the 20s for a refreeze of any meltwater. This is a pattern very typical of early spring when there is a lot of snow on the ground. You’ll want to be careful early Tuesday morning as there could be icy spots on walkways or even some side roads.

A nice stretch of melting resumes Tuesday afternoon and continues through Wednesday evening. We won’t go below freezing Tuesday night and this will lead to some overnight snow loss, though just a bit.

The mildest day of the week is Wednesday with highs in the 50s. Since there won’t be any rain, the snow won’t melt fast enough to cause issues, even with readings in the 50s.

Colder weather returns Thursday and Friday. There will be some snow and rain over the weekend, but the details are not yet known.

Monday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny. A bit windy with highs of 44 to 47.

Monday night: Mostly clear with lows of 21 to 28.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high of 44 to 47, becoming breezy.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high of 50 to 55.

Thursday: Sunny with a high of 38 to 42.

Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 36 to 40.
