Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man During Domestic Disturbance

The Worcester district attorney says Webster police officers responding to a domestic disturbance fatally shot a man who fired on them with a shotgun.

District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. says 40-year-old Neil Seifert, of Charlton, fired two rounds from the double-barreled 12-gauge shotgun at about 1 a.m. Friday.

The officers were not hit.

The officers returned fire after Seifert ignored warnings to drop his weapon.

Seifert was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two officers have been placed on administrative leave, per protocol.

Early says Seifert was at the home of a woman with whom he had a long-term on-and-off relationship and who has restraining orders out against him.

He had been at the home earlier, but returned to Charlton to retrieve the gun, fleeing a traffic stop while returning to Webster.
