Forecast: Showers And Breezy Today; Pleasant, Sunny Weekend

What a great few days we have been enjoying. Now we have a brief interruption in the pattern. There are some showers around this morning, but they will be ending this afternoon with some breaks of sunshine possible before the sun sets around 7:30 p.m.

I don’t expect much in the way of total rainfall. Generally, most of you will see under a quarter of an inch of rain. It hasn’t been very wet this month, so a bit of rain is a good thing.

Tomorrow is the mildest day of the weekend. Highs will be around 70 in the afternoon. It will be a nice day to do anything from a walk on the beach to raking the yard. You might see some plants at your local nursery for sale this time of year. Pansies, bulbs, trees and shrubs can all be planted now. I would not plant any warm weather crops.

A colder air mass will move into the area on Sunday. It won’t be abnormally chilly for mid-April, but it won’t be 70 degrees anymore either.

Monday is looking wet. The issue with Monday is does the rain hold off until just a few elite runners have crossed the finished line or does it hold off until the end of the afternoon. Currently, it appears the rain will start between about 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. While this is only a 5-hour window, it’s an important one. I’ll be updating the timing of the rain on Twitter @growingwisdom all weekend.
