Forecast: Cloudy And Showers Possible Tonight

Wednesday turned out to be quite pleasant in the afternoon, but it was chilly along the coast. The persistent northeast wind of the past days will continue through Friday, and this will keep high temperatures in check. I have put the risk of showers in the forecast starting tonight and continuing through Friday. The best chance for any rain will be Friday, especially south of Boston.

On Friday, a storm will be passing south out to sea and most of the rain will remain offshore. If this was winter we’d be worried about another snowstorm and watching the track of it very closely. Since it will be May, I am not concerned about snow, but a slight shift in the track could bring a bit more rain.

Whatever happens, the weekend is looking rather pleasant with a warming trend. Temperatures will approach 60 Saturday and get into the 60s to near 70 on Sunday. As is typical for early May, a sea breeze will keep areas along the coast, especially Cape Cod and the Islands cooler.

The next change of rain is Tuesday. A frontal system will approach southern New England from the west and bring a few showers to the region.

Weak impulses will bring clouds and a chance of showers to the region while a low pressure system passes south of the area Friday night and early Saturday. A warming trend is in store for next week.

Today: Lots of clouds with a few sunny breaks. Highs 55-60.

Tonight: A passing shower and chilly. Lows 37-44.

Friday: Raw and chilly with a few showers possible, mostly south of Boston. Highs near 50.

Saturday: Partly sunny, not as cold. Highs 55-60.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high 65-70.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 75.
