Quotation Of The Week: Speaking For Tsarnaev

What’s This? A newish feature. Each week, we’re going to pick a newsworthy or huh?-worthy or whoa-worthy quotation that stuck with us.

OK, What’s This Quotation? Becki Norris is a Cambridge educator, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving marathon bomber, used to be her advisee and student. She took to Cognoscenti this week to explain her decision to testify on his behalf in the penalty phase of his federal trial.

“I have discovered the painful truth that when you care deeply for someone, that does not stop even if he does unfathomably horrible things," she wrote.

Where Can I Find Out More About This Topic? Norris also spoke with WBUR's Jack Lepiarz, who's been covering the Tsarnaev trial, about her testimony and her thoughts on compassion.

How About Previous Quotations Of The Week? They’re all here.
