Forecast: After Colder Morning, Near 70 Today

It’s a cold morning to start the day, but much milder air is on the way for this afternoon. It’s not going to be as warm as it was on Tuesday by any means, but temperatures will reach back towards 70 this afternoon with nearly 100 percent of the possible sunshine.

The air continues to come from Canada which brings with it low dew points or limited moisture. This will keep fire danger elevated until we see a change in the pattern, which will come sometime over the weekend.

Tomorrow is a bit warmer with highs in the mid 70s. There isn’t a chance of any rain Friday and if you have the day off it will be great for any outdoor activities.

The weekend forecast is a bit tricky. Anytime we have the chance of rain in the middle of a drought, the odds are we will see less rain than is forecast by the computer models. Just like this winter when the snow seem to not stop, this spring it’s hard to the get the rain to start.

Saturday and Sunday will bring a lot of clouds. Depending on the exact tract of a weather system from the Ohio Valley we are looking at limited amounts of sunshine, but not much rain or cloudy skies and some periodic showers. The best chance for rain appears to be Saturday morning.

A continuation of typical May temperatures continues into next week. There might be additional opportunities for rain, but as I wrote about already this week, we are 3-5 inches below average.

Sunny dry weather continues until the weekend. Although there is the chance for showers this weekend, a washout isn’t expected.
