Weekend Forecast: A Lovely Saturday Turns Rainy Sunday With Possible Downpours

A few light sprinkles this morning barely wet the roads in places. Later today, as a cold front passes south of the region, a thunderstorm or shower might pop-up. These are most likely to occur in southeastern Massachusetts, but the chances for light showers elsewhere aren’t zero.

Aside from this low risk, the day will be generally dry. However, the air will become more humid for a few hours.

The highest humidity point today will be south of the Mass Pike, where dew points will reach well into the 60s. Although it won’t be very hot, you will definitely notice the humidity in the air.

In Boston, the dew point will drop into the lower 60s, which will definitely be noticeable, but nowhere near oppressive.

Saturday is the pick for the weekend. Abundant sunshine and comfortable, dry air with seasonably warm readings will make it an ideal day for most outdoor activities. It won’t be a beach day, because it won't be very hot. But it will a nice day for a walk or just reading a book in a chair.

Sunday brings the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill and a cold front through the area. These two events will bring a strong chance of showers that day.

However, there will likely be some interaction between these two weather systems and sometimes this can actually create pockets of drier air and fewer showers on the margins of where there is heavier rain. On Sunday, you have to plan for showers, mostly between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., but there will also be some dry periods as well.

Where the heaviest rain exists is still a bit of a question, but if you do see downpours, there could be some street flooding in more densely-populated areas. So plan your day with the knowledge you could have to be inside for part of it.
Cooler and drier weather returns for a good part of next week. Have a great weekend!
