Forecast: Partly Cloudy With Highs In The 70s

This morning brings more clouds, and there are a few sprinkles north of Boston, but this is going to be a better day with some developing sunshine and certainly warmer temperatures. Sunday was one of the coldest June 28 days on record — and the coldest since 1995, 20 years ago.

The reason for the cold, wet weather was a double-barreled low pressure system or storm, which made its way through the area and brought a chilly northeasterly wind.

Today, although there will be a sea breeze, it’s going to be a lot warmer. Highs this afternoon will reach the 70s everywhere. Although, temperatures might stay or fall back to the 60s over Cape Cod and the Islands.

It turns even warmer on Tuesday and the rest of the week when highs will be in the lower 80s. We still haven’t had an official day of 90 degrees at Logan Airport, although it has been 90-plus inland for between three or four days, so far, depending on exactly where you are. I don’t see any 90-degree weather coming up this week or early next week. After that, it’s just too far into the future.

Presently, July 4 looks partly cloudy or partly sunny with a chance of evening showers or storms, but I wouldn’t be too worried about rain just yet.

If you are into astronomy, take a look in the western sky over the next few nights. Venus and Jupiter are getting closer and closer and will make their closest pass tomorrow night. If the weather cooperates, you will be able to see the two planets looking as if they are one brilliant star.

Today: Morning fog and a bit of drizzle possible. Then a few sunny breaks later this afternoon. Highs in the low to mid 70s, upper 70s well inland.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low 52-57.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.

Wednesday: Partly sunny and more humid. A few afternoon storms or showers. Highs near 80 degrees.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high in the upper 70s.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high 78-82.
