Police Seek Suspects In Fatal Shooting Of Boston Woman

Boston police are searching for suspects in the fatal shooting of a woman in the city's Roxbury neighborhood late Tuesday.

Police have identified the victim as 31-year-old Grisel Sanchez, of Boston.

At 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, cops responded to a report of a person shot in the area of 339 Seaver St. Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.

City Councilor Tito Jackson, who represents Roxbury, said he believes Sanchez was a mother of three.

"Those kids should never have to deal with burying their mom," Jackson said Wednesday. "Someday we bury our parents, but a child should never have to deal with burying their parents. It has to stop."

A resident who only gave his name as Joe told WBUR he was at his home nearby when Sanchez was fatally shot.

"Me and my roommate were sitting, watching YouTube, and we heard gunshots," he said. "It's sad. I mean, people can't walk the streets anymore."

A vigil is planned for Sanchez at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Puddingstone Park.

In the park, her friends and family members created a makeshift memorial with flowers, photos and candles.
