Former MBTA GM Scott Nominated To U.S. Transportation Board

President Obama nominated former MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott to the National Transportation Safety Board, the White House announced on Tuesday.

Scott was among seven appointments made by Obama Tuesday. "I am confident that these experienced and hardworking individuals will help us tackle the important challenges facing America, and I am grateful for their service. I look forward to working with them," he said in a statement.

Scott resigned from her post at the MBTA as the public transit system this winter experienced service failures amid record-breaking snowstorms.

From 2007 to 20 12, she was general manager of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority and she worked from 2002 to 2007 as the CEO and general manager of the Sacramento Regional Transit District.

According to its website, the National Transportation Safety Board is an independent federal agency "charged by Congress with investigating every civil aviation accident the United States and significant accidents in other modes of transportation - railroad, highway, marine and pipeline."
