Body Of Woman Found Washed Ashore On Plum Island

Police are investigating after the body of woman was found washed up on Plum Island northeast of Boston.

Carrie Kimball Monahan, a spokeswoman for the Essex County district attorney, says a couple walking on the beach in the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge saw the body Sunday morning and called police.

She said Newbury police and the medical examiner's office are investigating what happened to the woman, who has not been identified.
