Forecast: 'A Great Day To Be Outside' As Drier, Sunnier Weather Returns

A cold front brought a lot of rain to some areas Tuesday night and none to others. In the greater Concord, N.H. area some places saw over 5 inches of rain, which toppled trees and caused power outages. For much of southern New England, the cold front passed with little fanfare.

Now, however, the dew points are dropping and with plenty of sunshine today, it will end up being a great day to be outside.

High pressure is building in from the west, and this system is going to keep us warm and dry through the upcoming weekend. Last weekend, we saw high humidity and lots of clouds, but this weekend will be nearly cloudless with lower humidity.

Thursday and Friday will feature very seasonable temperatures with highs in the upper 70s. Later this weekend, as the high pressure system moves to the coastline, a return flow of warm and more humid air will take over. I don’t expect the same type of pattern we just saw with the extreme levels of humidity for two weeks, but the air will turn more humid, and as we start September, it will remain quite warm.

To the south, Tropical Storm Erika continues to push toward the Bahamas. Later this weekend, this storm will be off the Florida coastline, and we will continue to watch its progression and strength. Most models bring this storm to hurricane strength this weekend.

Today: Mostly sunny and becoming drier. Highs in the lower 80s.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low 60-65.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high 77-80.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 76-81.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high in the lower 80s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high 80-85.
