Forecast: Next Several Days Will Be Some Of This Summer's Nicest

Finally dry air arrived in all of New England as a cold front passed the area. It was a bit surprising how long it took the lower dew points to arrive, but I was able to sleep with the windows open last night.

Now as we look ahead, the weather looks very tranquil for the next week. The final few days of August and the start of September are going to feature some of the nicest weather of the summer. As I write this blog today, the challenge is to be sure I am not missing something that might upset the dry and sunny weather in the forecast for the next week.

Some school systems have already started again and will continue the rest of the week. If your child is already heading off to class, you won’t have to worry about jackets for them, and they could even wear shorts.

If you are still on summer vacation, the weather looks absolutely amazing through the middle of next week. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s the next couple of days, but will then warm in the upper 80s by the end of the weekend where they will stay at least the first part of next week. Cape Cod and the Islands won’t be that warm, but still above average.

The weather will not only be fantastic here in southern New England, this stretch of dry and mild weather is going to be felt into Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine as well. High temperatures won’t be as warm there, but only a few degrees cooler. Many areas will reach into the lower 80s this weekend from Portland, Maine to Concord, N.H. to Burlington, Vt.

While we are enjoying this great stretch of summer weather, there is a tropical storm named Erika to the south. This storm will impact the Bahamas and could impact the United States sometime next week, but it could also stay off the coast and pass safely out to sea.
