Mass. Regional Forums To Focus On Open Meeting Law

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healy's office will hold four regional educational forums on the Open Meeting Law throughout the state this fall.

The forums are part of an effort by the attorney general's office to help state, local, regional and county public bodies understand and comply with the requirements of the law. They will be conducted by attorneys from Healy's Division of Open Government and are open to the public.

The first forum will be held in Sandwich on Sept. 9, followed by one in Cambridge on Sept. 17, Southbridge on Sept. 24, and Avon on Oct. 8.

Since assuming responsibility for enforcement of the Open Meeting Law at all levels of government in 2010, the AG's Division of Open Government has responded to more than 11,000 inquiries from members of public bodies, municipal counsel and the public.
