Family Of Woman Killed By Snowplow Files Wrongful Death Suit

The family of a 21-year-old Massachusetts woman has filed a wrongful death suit after she was struck and killed by a snowplow walking home from work earlier this year.

Elizabeth Jean Hill, of Fitchburg, died Feb. 21 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

The Sentinel & Enterprise reports her parents filed the civil action Monday in Worcester County Superior Court against the company, its owner and its insurance carrier. The owner was operating the plow at the time.

The family is seeking an unspecified amount in punitive damages.

The lawsuit claims the driver was operating the plow negligently, recklessly and carelessly, and that he created an unreasonable and substantial risk of danger.

No criminal charges were filed against the owner as a result of the accident.
