Police Investigating Death Of Baby Found At Lynn Homeless Shelter

Police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy who was found unresponsive at a Massachusetts homeless shelter.

A spokeswoman for the Essex district attorney's office said Thursday that a staff member at the shelter in Lynn called 911 on Saturday night to report an unresponsive baby.

The baby was taken to North Shore Children's Hospital in Salem before he was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital. He was pronounced dead there Sunday evening.

State and city police are investigating the death. No charges have been filed.

A spokeswoman for the state child welfare agency says she is barred by law from disclosing whether the agency was involved with the family.
