Forecast: Chilly Today, But Week Will Warm Up

It’s been a wild weekend of weather across the eastern part of the country and south to the Atlantic.

The historic rain in South Carolina will leave an impact on that part of the country for years.

The devastation across parts of the Bahamas from Hurricane Joaquin will take perhaps more than a decade to recover from. When you consider the impact of these weather phenomena, we really are fortunate we just had to contend with cool, raw conditions over the weekend.

Today will be the chilliest day of the work week. Temperatures are expected to struggle to reach 60 degrees. There will be some sunshine, but also a lot of clouds. There won’t be any rain today, and we really haven’t seen any appreciable rain since mid-week last week in spite of the clouds and damp conditions.

High pressure continues to build into the region the rest of the week, along with a warming trend.

Temperatures will exceed 65 Tuesday and then reach into the lower 70s on Wednesday. This should be the warmest day of the week.

A cold front is going to pass the area on Friday. This front will likely bring a period of showers and behind it cooler temperatures. The upcoming weekend is a holiday one for many of you and the weather should cooperate. Temperatures will be seasonable reaching into the lower 60s.

Across northern New England the foliage will near peak over inland areas north of a line from Concord, N.H. to Augusta, Maine. There will be more information on this blog about leaf-peeping later this week.
