Order Of Ballots Set For Mass. Presidential Primaries

The order of the ballots (see them below) for the Massachusetts presidential primaries has been set. The primaries take place March 1.

Using a spinning gold barrel, Secretary of State William Galvin on Tuesday selected candidates' names randomly, as high school students looked on.

As WBUR detailed Monday, research has found that ballot order matters, and that there's an advantage to where a candidate's name appears.

The last day to register to vote in the primaries is Feb. 10.

Here's the order of the ballots:

Democratic Primary:

  • Bernie Sanders
  • Martin O'Malley
  • Hillary Clinton

Republican Primary: 

  • Jim Gilmore
  • Lindsey Graham
  • Donald Trump
  • Ted Cruz
  • George Pataki
  • Ben Carson
  • Mike Huckabee
  • Rand Paul
  • Carly Fiorina
  • Rick Santorum
  • Chris Christie
  • Marco Rubio
  • Jeb Bush
  • John Kasich

Green-Rainbow Primary:

  • Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza Curry
  • Jill Stein
  • William Kreml
  • Kent Mesplay
  • Darryl Cherney
