Forecast: Very Cold With Temps Dropping This Weekend; A Few Snow Showers Possible

The snow continued to fly overnight and while not much accumulated, roads are still somewhat slick this morning. You’ll definitely want to leave extra time on your way to work. If there are snow showers where you are right now, they will be ending this morning. Don’t expect much if any additional snow.

Today will be cold. With temperatures nearly 10 degrees below average and fresh snow cover from yesterday's powerful storm, it’s definitely going to feel like a winter day.

Tomorrow is a bit milder, but there is another cold front passing through later in the day. This means a few snow showers with the front, but little or no accumulation. Once this cold front is off the coast, the coldest air we’ve seen since last winter arrives to close out the week and continues through the weekend.

Temperatures may average over 20 degrees below their typical levels for the time of year this weekend. This means highs in the single numbers to teens and lows near or below zero.

While I don’t see another significant snowstorm on the horizon, there might be a bit of snowfall late Friday night or Saturday, as the coldest of the weekend's frigid air arrives.

The good news is this is not the start of a pattern like February of 2015 when temperatures barely rose above freezing the entire month and a good chunk of the start of March. I do think we see a moderating trend late next week. It won’t be spring, but it will be more seasonable for the second half of February.
