Darrell, who joined WBUR in 2011, is the station’s director of development.
Before joining WBUR, he served most recently for five years as the Vice Chancellor of Advancement at UMass Boston, responsible for increasing fundraising in the areas of special events, corporations and foundations, annual fund, stewardship and major gifts. He was responsible for leadership, outreach and engagement with over 85,000 alumni/ae.
Darrell has also held leadership positions at WGBH, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Georgetown University Medical Center and Norwood’s Caritas Hospital. He currently serves on the Board of PowerOptions and has served on the Board of Overseers at Children’s Hospital Boston, the WGBH Corporate Executive Council and the board of the AFP Massachusetts Chapter. In 2009, Darrell received the CASE District 1 New England and Eastern Canada Eleanor Collier Award, presented to an individual whose work brings honor to CASE, education, and his or her fields of professional expertise. He lives in the Boston area with his wife and son.
