It was two years ago this week that General Electric announced it was moving its world headquarters to Boston. The giant, global conglomerate was encouraged in part by city and state financial incentives.

But now, amid reports GE may be breaking up, there are questions whether Boston is going to get what it bargained for.

For answers, WBUR's Bruce Gellerman looks back at the promises that were made -- and GE's uncertain future.

Correction: Due to an editing error, an earlier version of this story inaccurately said GE executives are considering breaking up the company. And due to a reporting error, an earlier version of this story said former GE CEO and Chairman Jeffrey Immelt was fired; he was replaced as CEO, and remained in his role as board chair until his retirement on Dec. 31, 2017. We regret the errors.
