Number Of Deaths Related To Opioid Overdoses Up In Massachusetts

There's more alarming news out about the number of people who are fatally overdosing on opioids in Massachusetts. Last month alone, the number of people here who died of suspected and confirmed overdoses was 173. Last June, it was 106.

Numbers released Wednesday by the state Department of Public Health offer no sign the epidemic is slowing down. Dr. Monica Bharel, commissioner of the state Department of Public Health, joined WBUR's All Things Considered.
