BBC World Service Live Broadcast: MIT’s Joi Ito

imagesJoi Ito is one of the great pioneers of openness on the internet. He claims it will be “the pillar of democracy for the 21st Century.” But with Egypt’s so-called Facebook revolution in jeopardy and worldwide anxieties that the web is being used by governments to spy on their citizens, is this optimism misplaced?

In a special live BBC World Service broadcast, Razia Iqbal introduces Joi Ito, director of the MIT Media Lab, to listeners worldwide and an audience at the Media Lab in Cambridge, Mass.

Join WBUR and the BBC at MIT Media Lab on Thursday, March 14, at 12:40 p.m. for What If…We Could All Talk to Joi Ito? The event ends at 2 p.m. Tickets are FREE but limited. There is a maximum of four tickets per person, and tickets will be released on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reserve your tickets via email and please specify number:  JoiItotickets@bbc.co.uk

If you would like to ask a question or make a point to Joi please state it briefly in your email. Thank you.

Note: WBUR will broadcast this special event from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 in place of Fresh Air. Listen live at wbur.org or on 90.9 FM.
