Vicki Croke Signs Her Book ‘Elephant Company’

ElephantCompany_BestsellerJoin Vicki Constantine Crokeco-host of The Wild Life on wbur.org, for a discussion of her latest best-selling book, “Elephant Company: The Inspiring Story of an Unlikely Hero and the Animals Who Helped Him Save Lives in World War II.”

Part biography, part war epic, and part wildlife adventure, “Elephant Company” is an inspirational narrative that illuminates a little-known chapter in the annals of wartime heroism. It tells the story of Billy Williams, a “forest man” for a British teak company who became a gifted elephant trainer — and then used that knowledge to employ elephants in service to the British army during World War II.

At this Harvard Book Store event, Vicki will talk about “Elephant Bill” and his remarkable story, then sign copies of her book. The event is free, and books will be available for purchase at a discount. For more information and directions to the store, click here.
