WBUR Presents “Learning Curves: The Moth in Boston”

WBUR is your ticket to The Moth this spring, when the popular New York storytelling ensemble returns to town for another Mainstage performance on Thursday, April 11, 8 p.m., at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square.

Hosted by Brian Finkelstein, the evening will feature a curated lineup of celebrated writers, actors and other unique storytellers who will each explore the theme of “Learning Curves” with their true tales of ordinary life, told live on stage.

And if that’s not enough of The Moth for you, we invite you to join us at the afterparty immediately following the show at Flatbread Somerville (located right around the corner from the theater) for delicious, all-natural, wood-fired-clay-oven pizza, drinks, bowling, and a chance to meet the storytellers and your fellow WBUR listeners. For just $75, you’ll get a ticket to both the show and the afterparty.

  Because demand is so high, and because this is a fundraiser for WBUR, we did raise the price slightly this year. But please note that the monthly Moth StorySLAM, which we present with the Moth at Oberon in Cambridge, costs just $8 for general admission and $16 for a premium ticket. The next one is March 19, and tickets will be available through wbur.org a week before the event. Like these, though, they do go fast!

    I’m not a fan of Oberon as a venue and I also think it is really small, is the moth boston open to other/larger venues in the area?

I was trying to purchase a ticket right before 9am and when I place the order at 9am I got repeated error messages. Called to WBUR members at 9:05am to know what was going on, and I was told that the tickets already sold out…. There is something wrong with this process.

  Very disappointing to see it sell out so quickly. This is the second Moth show that was sold this way. Frustrating.

I’ve totally given up on the Moth in Boston. Oberon tickets are impossible to get and the Somerville Theater sells out even before the announcement that tickets are on sale arrives. Please take me off the mailing list as this is just too frustrating.

I got an email from The Moth after 2:00 pm today, well after the tickets were sold out. People, please set up and operate a fair process. This is not good customer relationship management. Not getting tickets is one thing. Being left out by WBUR, where I’m a member, as well as The Moth, where I’m a donor, is unpleasant.

Fear NOT Moth fans.. Boston has it’s own moth, known as Massmouth (in its 4th year) with a huge Mouthoff after 24 slams at the Cooledge Corner theatre… want to hear Boston’s best locals mouthoff. I joined WBUR because I was told Moth tickets would be offered to WBUR members a day before they’re offered to the general public. On the Moth website, a March 19 show is scheduled for the Oberon Theatre. Today is one day before a week before the March 19 show, and yet there’s no posting for tickets anywhere – WBUR, Oberon Theatre, or The Moth. Does ANYONE know what’s going on??!!

If you can’t get into the event, just attend a local storyslam. there r tons hosted by massmouth, a local moth, though i don’t think they’re related officially, they just do the exact same thing, year round, all over the state, esp. in and around boston… massmouth.com
