Author Ann Beattie (Sigrid Estrada)

In the 1970s, Author Ann Beattie was called the most popular and admired writer of her generation by the New York Times.  Her work appeared regularly in the New Yorker, and her first novel "Chilly Scenes of Winter" was made into a film.  Since then, she's been off the radar.  But now she's back with a vengeance.  Earlier this year, she published the novella "Walks with Men." This week her collected work for The New Yorker is being released and she is working on an upcoming biography of former first lady Patricia Nixon. Robin Young visited Ann Beattie in Maine to talk about Beattie's new works and about the craft of writing.

This segment aired on November 15, 2010.
