Automated Instruments Bring Old Performances Back To Life
ResumeThrough the magic of technology, Zenph Sound Innovations will bring the music of the late jazz pianist, Art Tatum, back to life tomorrow. The companty's robotic piano will recreate Tatum's playing from decades past during a performance in Raleigh, N.C.
The technology that makes this "re-performance" possible is the brainchild of John Q. Walker, a pianist and engineer, who is developing software aimed at revamping our assumptions about music and musical performances. David Schneider, a senior editor at IEEE Spectrum magazine has a profile of Walker and his groundbreaking work.
