If you live in a city, you're probably used to seeing rusty, abandoned bicycles, often chained to parking meters or bike racks, sometimes missing wheels. In Boston, many universities and police departments are now donating the removed bikes to a nonprofit organization, Bikes Not Bombs.

The group processes nearly 6,000 used bicycles a year, shipping some to South America and Africa; they also teach bicycle mechanics to inner city kids.

We speak with Bikes Not Bombs donations coordinator Stephen Bosco,  who has been salvaging abandoned bicycles for nearly 20 years.

This segment aired on December 24, 2010.
