Swimming Off Maine's Coast, Come Hell Or 35 Degree Water
ResumeLong-distance swimmer Gary Sredzienski doesn't let the snow and cold of a harsh Maine winter put the damper on his swimming routine. He swims year-round off the coast of Maine, and is planning a four-mile swim in the Atlantic waters between Portsmouth and Kittery this month to raise money for lighthouse preservation.
Proceeds will benefit the American Lighthouse Foundation and its local chapter, Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses. We speak with Sredzienski, who is also a professional accordion player. He describes how he will stay warm in the 35 degree water.
