Remembering Harvard Theologian Peter Gomes

Prominent Harvard theologian and author Peter Gomes has died at age 68. The Harvard Crimson reports that Gomes died last night after suffering a brain aneurysm and a heart attack.

Gomes, an African American, was born in Boston but he grew up in Plymouth, Massachusetts and became a nationally-recognized Baptist preacher and a Harvard professor.

He was also openly gay and was fascinated with the Pilgrims' story.
