Hip Hop Artist Talib Kweli

Hip hop artist Talib Kweli decided early on to pursue a different path than his parents, both academics. And Jay-Z seems to think he made the right choice, rapping: "If skills sold, truth be told,/I'd probably be, lyrically, Talib Kweli." Kweli responded: "If lyrics sold, then truth be told/I'd probably be just as rich and famous as Jay-Z."

By the late 90's, Talib, alongside his partner Mos Def, helped bring underground rap to the mainstream. His discography includes a long list of critically-acclaimed albums including "Black Star" and "The Train of Thought" LP. In 2002, Talib achieved commercial success with his song "Get By," produced by Kanye West. His latest album is "Gutter Rainbows."
