During his campaign for president an advisor joked that Barak Obama was the "First Jewish President." But as he heads towards next year's election, many critics say that he has turned his back on Israel. Why the shift in public opinion?

In his New York Magazine article titled "The Tsuris" John Heilmann says that the president has never waivered in his support for Israel --he's simply stated, aloud, what every administration has quietly supported for the last 40 years: a return to 1967 borders along with land swaps.

Guest:

  • John Heilmann, writer for New York Magazine

This segment aired on September 23, 2011.
