The FBI says it is investigating if 28-year-old Floyd Lee Corkins should be charged with a federal crime, such as attempted terrorism.

Corkins walked into the headquarters of the Family Research Council in Washington, DC Wednesday and allegedly made remarks opposing the conservative group's policies before shooting a security guard.

The guard is in stable condition Thursday and police are calling him a hero for helping wrestle Corkins to the floor.

The Family Research Council is a Christian group that opposes abortion, euthanasia, and same-sex marriage. The alleged shooter had worked as a volunteer at the DC Center for the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, and Transgender Community.
